A new puppy for my best friend!
Yesterday, we fould a new puppy for my best friend. The puppy is a cockalier which is a cross between Cocker and King Charles Cavalier. Cute dogs. He did real good on the way home as I went to get him. I took him to meet his new mommy and then we came back here. I then gave him a bath as he stunk pretty bad. I was really amazed as he sat very good in the bath and he didn't even mind the blow dryer. I'm impressed. He spent the rest of the day with my three but didn't play much as he was so very scared. He came from a kennel and I got the impression there wasn't much play. So, my friend got off work at two and off to Walmart we went to puppy shop. She bought everything she needed, almost. She called the puppy Freckles as his nose is covered in them. Well, Freckles does not know how to walk on a leash as the breeders do not teach that. Now, mind you, my friend does not have a yard yet as she just moved into this place. So, she has to take Freckles out on a leash to do his business. Which, he doesn't do with a leash on as it scares him. I showed him alot of love and attention during the day and told my friend to do the same as he would really be scared. Anyway, the first evening went pretty good. Then it came time to go to bed. This dog is used to nothing but a 3 x 3 wooden box to live in with a doggy door attached to go out. So they go to bed and he gets put up on the bed. Not bad, he says, but I don't feel like sleeping. He gets down and poops all over her house. Meanwhile it has rained hard here and she gets up and cleans up all the potty messes. She then decides to take him out on the leash again. No luck, he would not potty. She then has to wash his feet as they are really muddy from the rain. Ok, so now he decides it is time to play. They finally got to sleep about four in the morning, only to wake up at six so she could get ready for work. I am puppy sitting until she gets her yard in. So she brings the puppy by this morning and he comes in and feels right at home and starts playing with Winslow and Shakespear. As my friend told me this story this morning I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. What you all don't know is that she and her hubby have recently split. She really is not a animal person but everyone told her she needed a dog to keep her company. She finally agreed, thus my going out to see Freckles yesterday and buying him. So, needless to say that when she was telling me this morning about all the poop I was hysterical. She is only going to work half day today and will concentrate on getting a little yard up for him ASAP. Dogs can really improve ones life with laughter and love. Just think, this is only the beginning. I stood there this morning and told her, "Welcome to doggy parenthood". She just grunted. Until next time, please clix me.
